Two Good Eggs
Last week it was time stop back in at Two Good Eggs. This spot hit it out of the park last time so they were an obvious choice when some friends and I were after a reliably good breakfast spot
Even though it was very busy, there was a spare table but if you arrive later, you may be in for a wait!

Cappuccino
The coffee ($3.80) was excellent again. Even though it’s on the more expensive side of Sydney coffee, our cups were prepared well and the flavours were strong and consistent.

Goulburn St Special

Goulburn St Special
They love their croissants here. Two of my guests tried the Goulburn St Special and both nodded in appreciation as they savoured the flavours. The scrambled egg by itself lacked seasoning but the combination of thick bacon, mushrooms and cheese croissant was a welcome one. On the side came roast potatoes and rocket to balance the dish out as well as the ubiquitous tomato relish. You may remember from last time that included on almost every plate at 2GE is a small jar of relish which is a tribute to the Spanish Tomate eaten in Spain. “We pay homage to our European roots in many of the dishes” said Andrew Menczel, “Spain, France and Hungary are some of the main influences.”

Special with chorizo and spicy capsicum salsa
The specials at 2GE change often but one guest tried the stack with chorizo and spicy capsicum salsa. The eggs on top were poached perfectly and the avocado provided fresh relief from the spicy salsa and chorizo!

Goats on toast

Hash browns
The goats on toast ($15.90) was very disappointing this time around compared to our last visit. The goats cheese was sparse enough to warrant my guest transferring all of it to the one slice of toast. It was also cooked at a more intense heat and walnuts were not as plentiful. Even though the combination of honey, apple and sour cherry fruit toast is a great one, it just didn’t work on the plate this time.

Eggs Benedict with bacon
The eggs Benedict is served with ham, bacon or salmon. My bacon version arrived with the usual culprits as well as some baby spinach leaves and sourdough toast. The hollandaise was slightly on the thin side but otherwise it was a competent Benedict.
With an always evolving menu yet with a kitchen that gets it right most of the time, Two Good Eggs is a solid breakfast destination. If you’ve visit recently, let me know what you thought!
