Café Kystens Perle
For those of you wondering, the name means ‘pearl of the coast cafe’. Tucked away in the corner of the beachfront, this truckers’ outpost turned cafe serves traditional Danish food with a few more modern dishes thrown in for dinners.
Café Latte
We were there for brunch which started with some café lattes and freshly squeezed orange juice.
Danish Brunch w/ eggs, bacon, sausages, fruit, yoghurt & berries, cheese & homemade bread
The brunch we both shared was as traditional as Danish brunch gets. Typical of what you normally find at most establishments the brunch consisted of bacon, scrambled eggs, cherry tomatoes, sausages, fruit, crepe, yoghurt with berries and syrup, cheese and fresh bread (both Danish rye and a homemade baguette) (approx $20). The entire plate was terrific especially the berries and syrup on the fresh pancake. All of the fruit was ripe and tasty, the bread thick, warm and perfect with the cheese and the cooked ingredients were all great even just by themselves.
The combination of foods which make up the Danish brunch would please most people. There’s something for everyone and this was a great example of a national food.
The other meals both being served and on the menu all looked superb. Danes around us were either having the brunch, other breakfast platters or Christmas plates from the specials menu. Lunch and dinner offerings included garlic prawn pasta with tomatoes, olives, basil and parmesan (approx. $20), burgers, sandwiches and grilled fish/meats. Highly recommended for a quick meal, dinner or function.
